Online Application

Persons applying to JTS Online will need to complete and submit the following to the JTS Admissions Department in order for their application to be considered. The application package can be downloaded here.

Persons will only be considered for admissions to one of the JTS Online programmes when all of the following have been completed and submitted:

  • JTS application form
  • Pastoral reference form
  • Academic and/or a Professional Reference Form
  • Statement of conversion and subsequent Christian ministry involvement
  • Health Form
  • Official transcript
  • Academic Certification (Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees etc.) Only certified copies by a Notary Public Official such as a Justice of the Peace (J.P)
  • A non-refundable application fee of $20.00US

Please note that a transcript is considered official only when sent in a sealed envelope from the college/institution directly to the Seminary. Student copies of transcripts stamped STUDENT COPY are not acceptable.

Admission Requirements

Persons desiring to register for courses in the JTS Online Programme and who are not already students at JTS must first go through the JTS admissions process. Admission requirements for all JTS Online Programmes are:

  1. A minimum of five (5) CXC or GCE or equivalent qualifications as accepted regionally, nationally or internationally (English must be included)
  2. An interview either online or by an Academic representative in your location/country.
  3. Completion of an English Proficiency Test
  4. Applicant must be able to meet the basic technical requirements of the programme. For more information on these requirements click here.

Applicants who do not possess all of the above academic requirements are assessed for equivalent qualifications that include but are not limited to:

  • JTS Certificate and Associate in Leadership and Ministry programmes
  • HEART /NTA Certification
  • Secondary School Competency (SSC)
  • Professional courses (diploma and certificates)
  • Jamaica School Certificate Examination (JSCE)
  • JTS Extension Certificate programme (ETA)

The Certificate in Leadership and Ministry programme is offered part-time as a first level qualification to the Associate of Arts and/or the Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree programmes. This certificate is designed to assist persons who are desirous of acquiring tertiary level training but do not possess the matriculation requirements. Applicants who do not have the academic requirements but have attained secondary education and/or possess vocational qualifications are carefully assessed by the admissions committee.

Provisional Acceptance

Applicants who do not possess all five subjects but have English Language and three other passes may be granted provisional acceptance at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Persons accepted provisionally are required to acquire the additional subject(s) within one year.

Mature Entry

Applicants who do not possess any academic qualifications but have been serving in the Ministry (as an associate pastor, deacon, elder, lay-preacher, etc.) for a minimum of 5 years and is over 30 years old are carefully assessed for Mature Entry Status. Persons who qualify under this status are admitted provisionally for 1 year; during this period they must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) for full admission to the programme.

Applications for JTS Online Programmes are continuously being processed throughout the year.

Timeline for Degree, Associate and Certificate programmes

Semester I Beginning in August

  • Application processing period: April - July
  • Application closes on the second Friday in June
  • Late application deadline - last Friday in June

Semester II Beginning in January

  • Application processing period: September – November
  • Application closes on the second Friday in November
  • Late application deadline – last Friday in November
